Engaging in Ecosystem for Value in Digital Transformation. This short masterclass explains what an ecosystem is? how they work? roles in an ecosystem! The nature and structure of Digital Ecosystems. (From our sister company Strategic Business & IT Services)
This Masterclass with Dr. Myles Sweeney explores how you build sustainable open innovation ecosystems for organisations. Leveraging Dynamic Systems Maturity Theory and the Organisation Capability Maturity Framework. It looks at China's leading innovating corporation.
The Covid-19 disruption to the Global Economy is catastrophic in terms of its abruptness and scope, and because people are shut out of their jobs, it is felt as such at micro- meso- and macro-socio-economic levels. The reference event is 1918, but today’s VUCA marks a different world for organizations, where sluggishness or missed-steps in re-building company activity could be ruinous. There is a lot of good advice being made available, but it is typically presented as elemental or dashboard in nature, rather than as a process which re-building is. What differentiates DSMT is that it is a peer-reviewed operationalizable normative model of a development process “with unprecedented scientific depth” that is equally valid across all of the above levels of socio-economic system – people, teams, organizations and economies. This paper organises material including advice from leading authoritative sources; its own developmental, turnaround, Change-Management and Organization-Development prescriptions; and research on Post Crisis Management; into the DSMT process, so that in these unchartered waters, Leaders know where they are, what to avoid, the sequence their re-building steps should take or which should be missed for re-positioning, how to stagger re-building different capabilities using the same process, etc. This process is outlined for both the Pick-Up-Where-You-Left-Off Re-Start and the Responsive Re-Build scenarios. It is a reference model against which Leaders can check progress, sustainability, what needs to be skipped for later inclusion, etc. to supply the hallmarks of DSMT interventions – Traction, Sustainability, Systemic scope, and Agility. This crisis has two main dimensions: Health and Economic: it is science that will get us through the health crisis, and science can optimise Organizational Re-Building as it recedes.
Demeaning people or diminishing their human nature increasingly costs organizations greatly in the modern world. However, Emotion which accounts for half of that human nature and most of the motivational dynamic of an organization in e.g., change-management initiatives, customer relationships, etc., is currently very poorly understood, modelled, operationalised or harnessed beyond the controversial concept of Emotional Intelligence. This deficit contributes directly to well-documented disappointing Productivity as well as high Change-Management / Organization-Development Failure Rates, primarily through resulting resistance and poor adoption of change by staff. This masterclass introduces a new academically-validated Developmental Model called Dynamic Systems Maturity Theory (DSMT) and its radical new understanding and operationalization of Emotion through the following format:
• A brief introduction to the Concept of Emotion and how it has been operationalized in e.g., Emotional Intelligence at individual and collective levels for organizations
• The new insights of DSMT: Emotional Theory made simple; Emotional Engagement operationalised within the Developmental process; Managing the Emotionality of Agility; Managing Emotional Inversion as Organizational Threat; etc.
• Emotional Dynamic of the Organization fully operationalized
• Emotional Dynamic of the key players – Leader, Change Agent, etc.
• Emotional Maturity Vs Culture as a collective Emotional Intelligence – A Case Study
• Emotional Dynamic of the Change Process – e.g., relating to M&A failure rates
After this masterclass, people will have a new understanding of Emotion and a better basis for harnessing something that is proven to be critical to the success of Change and Developmental initiatives.
"Culture is the collective equivalent of mindset and determines how the collective behaves in recognised maturational patterns". This description arises from new scientific research “with unprecedented scientific depth” which transforms a dimension of organizations that is regularly cited as the critical problem behind high failure-rates for change management, strategy, etc., but so poorly understood with definitions such as “the way we do things around here”. This Masterclass offers much in new insight and methodology e.g., how any Culture can now be understood and defined as a Capability Maturity Level, and why focusing on Culture is a waste of time. Learn what to focus on for diagnosing where interventions and strategy will gain Traction, and learn the normative process that optimises Sustainability.
